Hi Mom and Dad,
I don't know if a stop in Atlanta means you have moved too far West...but we are glad to hear you are at least thinking about it!
You said once you wanted to be in Springfield, OR on March 26th (when I get back from Dallas!) and the way I figure it that is one month from tomorrow. Yeah!!
Get driving!!
Love,
Caroline, Marc, Jak the dog, and Lentil
It looks like your little adventure is a 2 year process not 9mos. Keep the posting up I love reading about your adventures. See you when you get back
So, all it takes to get you two home is more people posting notes?? Come on folks...get cracking! I will share my password with anyone who will write something. I want my parents home NOW! Do I sound demanding?? It is the hormones talking! I love being pregnant!
Love,
Caroline
Elsie, don't you want to come play with me and Jak? Tell your parents to hurry up (but not "hurry up"=go potty, hurry up=come home soon). :)
It will be wonderful to have y'all back but until then we really love your blog!
love
CharleyDog, Jennifer, and Matt
Hey North by South East and Kinda Westward Travelers,
You need to disregard all the sympathy seeking family, friends, and dogs trying to "Guilt" you into coming back home. This is a one shot deal, a tie breaker, the big Kahuna of voyages. You need to savor every moment like a fine wine swirling gently on your palette. I mean so far it's been a vintage Chardonnay, you don't want to downshift to Annie Green Springs, MD 20/20 or Ripple now that your literally heading into the sunset do ya, HECK NO!!!
You need to "Bob and Sway, "Duck and Dive", "Weave and Turn"; otherwise all you’ll see is Interstate. Some of the best times to be had happen when the plans do go out the window, and you find yourself knee deep in something you’ve never experienced before. I mean come on, climbing “The Baked Potato”, risking life and limb to eat honest to god, down home southern food, boning up on your history of the south, and a stop at the Biggest Drive in Diner in the whole world, need I say more?
The sun still rises and sets like it did the day you rolled off the farm and left a mud trail down the highway until it disappeared, just like you guys did. We still have global warming, Bush in the White House, the war in Iraq, the Mariners, Seahawks, another ridiculously expensive stadium about to be rammed down our throats for the Sonics, rainy days, work, play and everything in between. It’s all still here, and will be even on the day you cruise up 405, exit onto 124th, cross the valley, head north for that last short mile, and ease back through the mud sure to be waiting for you back on the farm. Buuuuuuut in the meantime, there’s like a bazillion miles of back roads, parks, mountains, lakes, rivers, valleys, breathtaking views and brilliant sunsets to see before you park the old rolling homestead at the last stop on your trip.
The rest will be here when you return. Your daughter will undoubtedly be larger through the mid-section, the yard may need some serious cleanup, but hey, all that junk turns back into dirt given enough time right? Besides, you’ll need time to reacclimatize, break the wanderlust cycle, slip back into the “Norm”, and try to remember the names of your children, friends and dogs so anxious for your speedy return. There’s a whole world of adventure with your names on it just around the next bend in the road. Go enjoy it, for all of us…..
See Ya,
JD
PS – I can feel the daggers in my back by all those in favor of a beeline from your current location to Seattle as I hit the enter button to post this to your blog. The fact is, somebody’s gotta tell it like it is, so bring on the nasty comments, I was born for confrontation……Excluding of course, all polite well mannered children and adults reading this posting. It’s all in fun people…… ; )
